Evolution & Ecology
Research Centre
Evolution is responsible for the all of the
biological diversity in the natural world and
the fossil record. Evolution occurs within the
context of ecological interactions between an
organism and its environment. The most exciting
research in whole organism biology is at the
intersection of how organisms interact with
their biological and physical environment
(Ecology) and the way in which these
interactions effect adaptive change across
generations (Evolutionary Biology).
The Evolution & Ecology Research Centre draws
together the diverse strengths of 18
academic staff,
8 independent
research fellows,
and over forty
postgraduate students
from the
School of Biological,
Earth and Environmental Sciences, the
School of Biotechnology
and Biomolecular Sciences, the
School of Mathematics and
Statistics and the
School of Medical Sciences
at
UNSW in Sydney,
Australia.
The Centre's purpose is to build capacity for
and quality of
research,
including postgraduate research and supervision.
To do so, we provide seed funding for innovative
new research collaborations, recognize
excellence in research, learning and
supervision, run an innovative
Graduate Program in
Evolution & Ecology, and engage in
public outreach relating to evolution and
ecology. |
